Alvin A. "Bob"  Gill
Alvin A. “Bob” Gill (US Navy, Ret.), age 86, of Stockdale, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his home in Stockdale. He was born on March 19, 1930 in Escatawpa, MS to John and Mary Matelda Mammie (Miller) Gill. Bob was an avid coffee drinker and loved eating meals together with his family; his family was his world. Bob served his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from the US Navy after 25 years of service. His parents, two sisters and eight brothers preceded him in death. Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Peggy Lou Gill of Stockdale; daughter, Adrienne Lou Gill of New Mexico; son, Mason Lee Gill and wife Dottie of Stockdale; grandchildren, Patrick J. Murray and wife Valerie of Orange Grove, Vincent Lee Murray and wife Mandy of Kingsville, David Brosmer of Corpus Christi, Joshua Brosmer of San Marcos, Christopher Rivera and Vanessa Rivera, both of Premont; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends. He will also be missed by his chocolate lab “Shelby”, his jackrabbits, ducks, other birds, and his “Sqeekie” and “Spongebob”. A visitation will take place Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Finch Funeral Chapel, Stockdale.

The Reverend Ray Perales will officiate at the service. Interment with military honors will follow in the Stockdale Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or to the Shriners Hospitals at www.shrinershospitals.org.
