Condolence: We were saddened to hear of Grandpa's passing. It was an honor and pleasure to get to know you both & your family over the couple of years in baseball with Ben. He always had a smile and kind words about and to Ben. You and he always made us feel like old friends and it was amazing how the young men stopped, paid attention, & listened when he spoke. I know his passing has left a hole in your heart. But he's watching & coaching from a better seat above. Our thoughts & prayers are with Grandma and your family.
Love, Blake, Tina, & Benjamin Triesch

Condolence From: Cindy Olson Bourland
Condolence: Dear Jim, Nanci and the Newberry family,

I just read the obituary in the Austin paper today. I am SO very sorry to hear of the loss of your dad and please accept sincere condolences from the entire Bourland family. Bill and Sue (Mike's parents) are in their early 80s and live in Round Rock -- I'm still very close to them. Mike died 14 years ago but I still remember him speaking so highly of your dad.

Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely,
Cindy Olson Bourland

Condolence: Coach Newberry and I became acquainted in 1955-1956 during his coaching career in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was a giant among men. Not only did he coach, he mentored young impressionable men. His positive influence helped many. My sincere condolences to the Newberry family. May your sorrow be lightened with love, peace, and comfort from the Lord along with your cherished memories.John Lynn Bryan;class of 1957 NISD

Condolence: Dr. Newberry was a good friend and much beloved Professor. He is the one who changed the whole direction of my life and is responsible for the many good things that have happened to me and for the opportunity to have made so many great friends along the way. He is the one who prompted me to enter the field of Public Education by means of one of his wonderful inspirational speeches at a convention in Austin. It is a long story that we both chuckled at later on when I attended his Education classes at the University and at the times we met afterwards over the years. The Newberry family and the Miller family will always have a very special man to remember. I will never forget him or be able to thank him enough.

Condolence: Both from me personally and from the SMA Alumni Council .. sympathy and love to the family of Coach Newberry.

He was a mentor to those of us who were lucky enough to know him during his years at the Academy.

He lived a life worth emulating and taught many boys how to become young men.

There'll not be another like him and now that his service in this world has ended, he'll be serving the Lord above first hand.
